Privacy Policy

Cardex is designed with privacy in mind. The app does not require an account, does not collect analytics, and does not send your saved business card data to the developer or to third-party data services.

1. Summary

Information you save in Cardex is stored locally on your device. If iCloud synchronization or device backup is enabled by you through Apple services, some app data may also be stored in your personal iCloud account. Cardex does not operate its own server for storing your saved business card information.

2. Information Stored by Cardex

Cardex may store information that you add, scan, import, edit, or save in the app, including:

  • names and company names;
  • phone numbers;
  • email addresses;
  • websites and social media links;
  • business card images;
  • other information that you choose to save in the app.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

Saved Cardex data is stored on your device. Depending on your Apple device settings, data may also be included in your personal iCloud storage, synchronization, or device backups provided by Apple. Cardex does not maintain a separate developer-controlled cloud database for your business card data.

4. No Analytics or Tracking

Cardex does not collect usage analytics, advertising identifiers, behavioral profiles, or cross-app tracking information. We do not use your activity in Cardex for advertising or profiling.

5. No Third-Party Data Repositories

Cardex does not use third-party databases, data repositories, or external data sources to enrich, identify, sell, or analyze your saved business card information. Text recognition and processing are intended to take place on the user's device using system capabilities provided by Apple.

6. Camera and Photo Library Access

Cardex may request access to your camera or photo library only when required for features such as scanning or importing a business card. Access is controlled by iOS permissions. You can review or change these permissions at any time in the Settings app on your device.

7. Data Sharing

Cardex does not sell, rent, or intentionally disclose your saved business card data to advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Your saved information remains on your device until you delete it, remove the app, erase the device, or otherwise remove the relevant local data. Data stored in iCloud or backups may remain according to your Apple account settings and Apple's own retention policies.

9. GDPR and Your Rights

If the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to you, you may have rights relating to your personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection, depending on the circumstances.

Because Cardex is designed so that saved card information is kept on your own device or in your own Apple iCloud environment, the developer generally does not have access to that stored content and therefore may not be technically able to retrieve, modify, export, or delete it on your behalf.

You can manage or delete locally stored information directly in the app and through your device or iCloud settings, as applicable.

10. Accuracy and Possible Errors

Cardex may contain software bugs or other errors. Automatic text recognition may also produce incorrect, incomplete, duplicated, or misclassified information, especially when an image is unclear, distorted, poorly lit, cropped, or contains unusual typography.

You should review recognized information before relying on it or saving it.

11. Disclaimer

Cardex is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, no guarantee is made that the app will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that automatically recognized information will be complete or accurate.

The developer is not responsible for decisions, communications, losses, missed opportunities, incorrect contact details, or other consequences resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or incorrectly recognized information, except where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

12. Apple and iCloud

Apple, iOS, App Store, and iCloud are services provided by Apple. Their handling of account information, backups, iCloud storage, and related data is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policies. Cardex does not control those services.

13. Children's Privacy

Cardex is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through developer-operated services. Since the app does not maintain user accounts or developer-controlled databases, the developer does not intentionally collect children's saved card data.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app, applicable laws, or privacy practices change. The latest version will be made available through the app or the official Cardex website.
